Mortgage Telemarketers are Scum of the Earth
916-643-9961 - BEWARE OF THIS NUMBER
October 26, 2005, at approximately 11:20 AM(Pacific Daylight Savings Time), I received a series of 4 phone calls. The first phone call was an introduction of who the scammer was, and a brief but bogus explanation why they were calling. They claimed I had made an inquiry about making changes to my mortgage, which I have not done. I stated this, said I was not interested, and then hung up. Mind you, they called on my cell phone too.
Obviously not willing to give up, they called back, saying they had been disconnected. I told them they were about to be disconnected again, and then hung up. Again.
Not to give up easily, they called right back, and they hung up before I could answer, hence that constituted a nuisance call.
Apparently they wanted the last word and told me that since I was unwilling to cooperate, I would have a negative mark put in my credit report, told me to have a nice day and then hung up. Calls back to them have resulted in busy signals. Interesting. Also, no sign of their existance on the internet, but that's a non-sequiter, since these kind of companies seem to come and go like colds during flu season.
So, let me see if I understand this correctly: They place an unsolicited call to me. I do not want the call. They claim I made an inquiry into making a change in my mortage, which I have not done. I tell them I am not interested, and they continue to call. Then I get punished for not wanting to talk to people that I do not want to talk with and who have been told I am not interested in talking to.
Excuse my ignorance. First I was lied to, then punished because I was not interested in dealing with these individuals. So, in simple terms, when a mortage telemarketer calls, they will use bully tactics to force you to deal with them instead of taking "no" for an answer. I wonder what legal repercussions one has against such unethical individuals?
Sure is an interesting world we live in. Just more proof that telemarketers are the bottom-feeding dirtballs that we know them to be.
