Dear Jeanette:

Dr. Stupid was puzzled and confused by your inquiry. Watermelons foaming and oozing? This certainly did not sound normal. Dr. Stupid was forced to do a little bit of research via Google in order to find an answer for your question.

First off, to answer the question about your watermelon being rotten, the results are inconclusive as to the status of ripe versus rotten.

Second, this appears to be a somewhat frequent problem in recent months. Many other people have reported this as well. The results all share the same common symptoms you describe. Others have also reported cracks appearing in addition to the bubbling, foaming and oozing. One even reported dripping. A couple of people suspected that perhaps the watermelons were injected with something.

All who tried these foaming watermelons have spit them out, disgusted with the taste. Some have tried to return or exchange this questionable fruit with various results. Some have received a new one, some were not able to. Almost all were annoyed at the loss of money and food.

Dr. Stupid advises you to not eat this.
