Or should I continue trying to write & record some songs? thanks --------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMOTE_HOST: cache-los-ad08.proxy.aol.com REMOTE_ADDR: 195.93.21.104 HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; AOL 9.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Dear Joe: Dr. Stupid feels that Dr. Stupid is being led into a trick question with your inquiry. Should you get it together and try to go to the absinthe party? Does this mean you need to do basic things like take a shower, dress and get cleaned up in order to consume amounts of a possibly toxic and lethal alcoholic beverage? It just seems to be too much effort to get wasted or dead. Then again, most people have heard of the phrase "all dressed up and nowhere to go". So, sure, why not put on clean underpants and a fresh shirt so you can not embarrass yourself and take inventory of any vomiting you do. Although absinthe has improved considerably over the many years it has been made, it still contains toxic elements. The odds of a lethal dose are significantly lower, it is still possible. Plus, with having to thin it out and sweeten it up. Then again, while it is illegal to sell it within the United States, it is not illegal to possess it and consume it. That is a whole other topic of stupidity right there. The other question of should you continue trying to write and record some songs? Perhaps it is your consumption of alcohol that you think is sparking your creativity. Either that or drugs. Dr. Stupid does not know you, so Dr. Stupid cannot make an accurate assumption either way. Perhaps it is your quest for intoxication that prevents you from trying to write songs, much less properly engineer and record songs. The parent site here, Studio42 is a full professional audio production company owned and operated by a world class recording and live sound engineer. You may wish to check it out. In Dr. Stupid's opinion, you should get it together and try to write and record songs. It really depends on how you look at your interest in songwriting. For some people, this needs to be treated as a job or career, and if you are serious about it, you should do likewise. Dr. Stupid does understand that creativity is not something that can be forced and the creative spark hits when it chooses. So, if you want a short answer, Dr. Stupid says "yes". Dr. Stupid will let you ponder what that means. 1 hour response too. Dr. Stupid can be quick in replies most of the time. Back
